Check out all of the awesome pictures Mike White of Deadly Designs took of our show at the 40 Watt on May 6th :-D
We're a pop band at our roots in a town filled with experiments and accidents which sometimes leak into our sound through the ground water. We write music that is meant to be sung at the top of your lungs with feeling and we want our fans to be able to understand and find comfort in every emotion.
Pleeeeeease Reblog!! We have a good chance to be considered to play Bonnaroo, but we need your help — please go to http://bit.ly/g4qfue and download our single Waiting for Sunlight (fo’ free). It not only votes for us (we’re in the top 50 at the moment and need a big push), but enters you into a chance to win 2 VIP tickets to bonnarooooooo (and having gone multiple times, I can tell you it is worth it). Like we said, please reblog and pass it on to your followers — if we get picked we’re donating the money we get from it to Nuci’s space!
Sound Tribe Sector 9 (which has some Athens roots and has played here many times and been a big supporter of the Ga. Theatre) announced earlier this year that bassist and all-around good guy David Murphy (an Atlanta native), above, has cancer and currently is undergoing treatment. (Read more here.) The band canceled the winter part of its tour but will be in Athens on Wednesday, April 20 and Thursday, April 21 for two shows at the Classic Center.
In addition, Terrapin Brewery will be hosting a concert pre-party to benefit Rock Against Cancer 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 20, featuring Noise[Org], from Auburn, Ala., a raffle to include tickets to STS9’s performances at the Classic Center and commemorative 16 oz. Terrapin Brewery glasses. The collectable glasses will feature artwork by local artist David Hale.
Rock Against Cancer (RAC) is a nonprofit organization providing innovative opportunities for children and teens with cancer to gain emotional support through music. Rock Against Cancer’s programs provide children and families respite from long and painful cancer treatment while building public awareness and support for the youngest victims of cancer. Music is a source of healing and solace during long hours of chemotherapy infusions, painful procedures, in hospital rooms, and at home.
So, CDs are being postponed…again. It’s frustrating, but out of our hands (problems at the package shop). The plan is to get the CDs, probably send half of them to blogs and people of importance around Athens, and then sell the rest of them. They’ll be 7$ and it’s totally worth it. 11 songs (+…bonus track?) mixed and mastered, soundin’ good, etc.
We had a really great time at the last house show we played and would really like to play more, so if you know anyone who likes having bands play at their place fo’ free, let us know :D
Hope all is well. Just to tide you guys over, here’s the album art.
Hope all is well with everyone!
